Sports Day, Sports Festival, UNDO-KAI in Japan

Sports Day, Sports Festival called UNDO-KAI is an event held by many shools and offices in which people take part in competitive sporting activities, often with the aim of winning trophies or prizes. This event for school is usually held in autumn or spring.

Games that are played on shool sports days can be wide and varied. Undokai called in Japanese is usually held on Saturday or Sunday and parents can come and visit.On this day, some parents go to school very early in the morning to get a best seat to watch their kids and mother make a big and nice bento lunch box for them. Kids love to eat this lunch with other friends and family together during sports day.


Before this sports day, Undo-kai, kids practice their events which they would like to show their parents and friends, within their class of physical education, which often includes Tamaire, the ball toss game,performances by the school band and presentations by various school clubs as well as individual group competitive events.
